Sail-In Cinema™ has captured Toronto’s imagination and received print, television, online and radio coverage.

Nothing says summer quite like watching a movie under the stars. And while there are plenty of outdoor movie screenings throughout the city, none are quite as special as the Sail-In Cinema. This year, the Sail-In Cinema returns to Sugar Beach from August 17 to 19. Moviegoers can either catch a flick while seated comfortably on land, or, if they have a boat, they can actually sail in, drop anchor and watch while bobbing up-and-down on Lake Ontario.

This three-night stunt event (hey, a floating, double-sided movie screen!) is getting ever more popular—last year’s fest brought a record 11,000 viewers. Landlubbers hang out at Corus Quay and Sugar Beach, while boat owners can anchor in the Harbour and get all the elbow room they want.

    - Toronto Life

Perhaps the coolest outdoor movie-watching experience you can have come summertime. The event allows film fans watch from land and water, with a screen bobbing in the harbour.

  • …and don’t forget the Sail-In Cinema festival (August 18-20), when PortsToronto sets up a double-sided screen off Sugar Beach and invites people to watch from their sloops and yachts or from the shore.

    - Torontoist

Sail-in Cinema is coming back to Toronto this summer. This August, Sugar Beach will once again be turned into the largest outdoor theatre the city has ever seen. And you’ll be able to participate from both the shore and the open water thanks to the only duel-sided floating movie screen in the world.

2017 will be Sail-In Cinema’s seventh year, and you can expect more than 10,000 people to attend over the 3-days festival. The best part? It’s completely FREE

If you missed Sail-in Cinema this time around, make sure you try to make it out next year. It is a very cool initiative to get people down to the beach and interacting around this stretch of the waterfront.

It’s a lovely way to spend your last few weeks of summer.

Is this the next new wave of film? The popular outdoor festival uses a two-sided floating movie screen set atop a barge in Toronto Harbour to be viewed by land (bring a chair, a cushion or a blanket) or by boat (bring your own anchor).
